THE DIFFERENCE DONATIONS MAKE: What's your story? How did we make a difference in your life?

Thanks to donations, residents of southwest Saskatchewan get the care they need close to home. From babies in the neonatal intensive care unit, to critical care patients, dialysis patients of all ages, virtually all benefit from the generous people of southwest Saskatchewan. People like you! The care they receive in Cypress Regional Hospital is better than ever because of donor-funded equipment purchases by you. Wait times are shorter, satisfaction rates are higher and access to care is well above standards. In other words, our family members and friends get world-class healthcare in the Cypress Health Region because of donors like you.
What is your story? How did we make a difference in your life? When it's needed most there is nothing more important than world-class healthcare, close to home. That's exactly what your gift brings to the people of our community. Let us know...

Together, we make a healthier southwest Saskatchewan.

Mr. Richard Lee's letter to the Foundation

How did we come to make a commitment?

We were asked by Dr. Tara Lee to considering supporting the establishment of a simulation suite. After a relatively brief discussion we asked for a proposal. After reviewing material provided by Clay Thompson of Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation we committed to a donation of $100,000.00; to be used toward the establishment of a Simulation Suite at the Cypress Regional Hospital.

Why did we make this commitment?

First of all, Dr. Tara Lee is our niece. We are very proud of her and proud of her decision to dedicate herself to the betterment of Swift Current and we believed that we should support her in this endeavour. It was Tara's idea to establish the Family Medicine Residency Program in Swift Current and the addition of the Simulation Suite will greatly assist the Residency Program and the likelihood of attracting more young medical talent to the Swift Current area.

There are many other reasons; Louise and I grew up in Swift Current Dr. Noble Irwin was Louise's father. My mother Edna, my brothers Chuck, Dick and Bill and their wives still reside in Swift Current and we have maintained a number of very good friendships with former school mates.

Finally, we wanted to do something in the memory of Louise's mother Irene and my father Lam Lee.

Richard Lee

Your support builds the Gathering Place Wall

The Gathering Place Wall, located on the grounds of the Swift Current Regional Hospital, is a unique way you and your family can support healthcare in the Southwest. Your donation of $100 or more will place your name on a plaque which will be fastened to one of the bricks of the wall -- the bricks that were salvaged from our old hospital. The chart below illustrates the bricks still available, as we are at the halfway point of all bricks being "purchased" through generous donations. See the Gathering Place Wall page for further details.

Read the inscriptions on the Gathering Place Wall.

What others say about the Foundation

At the recent RadioThon, many residents supported the Foundation, and spoke about the work we do. Below is a sample of what was said. You can also listen to the audio clips of interviews.

"...Another southwest Saskatchewan success story... The money that is gathered by the Foundation does not cover over government money or government cost reductions it is for scholarships, on-going equipment purchases... This serves as the hub for the region and southwest Saskatchewan needs to support the RadioThon."
--David Anderson, M.P. Cypress Hills-Grasslands
Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Natural Resource and to the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food for the Canadian Wheat Board. David has lived and farmed near Frontier, SK most of his life.

A newer facility with better equipment is something that is going to attract medical professionals to not only want to be in Swift Current but stay here, and that is a huge part of what the Foundation does in attracting the excellent professionals we already have out there… The Foundation has a huge role in improving the quality of healthcare that we have here in southwest Saskatchewan."
--Jerrod Schafer, Mayor, City of Swift Current

"The Foundation means a whole lot to the Cypress Health Region and, if you look at the last 10 years they raised over $17 million dollars for the health region... if we did not have the Foundation we would be $17 million dollars to the deficit on capital funding... For the moment one part is for capital equipment, but they have also done a lot of other things for us as far as education."
--Tyler Bragg, Chairman, Board of Directors of the Cypress Health Authority,
Managing Partner of Pinnacle Financial Services

"Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation has had a really terrific partnership with the Cypress Health Region over the past many years and, has raised millions and millions of dollars to help support us in capital medical equipment that we need to continue to provide quality care for residents of southwest Saskatchewan. Last year the focus of the RadioThon was for a digital mammography for the Cypress Regional Hospital which supports our entire region for the residents to travel in for that service."
--Beth Vachon, CEO, Cypress Health Region
